January
- Interview on JOYFM promoting Rainbow Families Council Midsumma activities.
- Organised the Rainbow Families Kidzone at Midsumma Carnival.
- Held two sold-out performances of Cha Cha Sam for rainbow family kids and their grown ups at Northcote Town Hall.
February
- Proudly marched in Pride March on Sunday 1 February with our tykes on trikes.
- Had our celebratory "Love Makes A Family” Picnic at Edinburgh Gardens on 8 February.
- Sent a support Letter for MQFF to The Office of Film & Literature Classification - seeking support for kids session at the festival - it was successful! (Did you go to the kids session? How about a short film review for our next newsletter?)
March
- Held a stall at Chillout with Victorian Gay & Lesbian Rights Lobby - great fun and we recommend the day to everyone! Next year we hope to get involved and organise some kids activities.
- Visited Prospective Lesbian Parents support group to talk about the Assisted Reproductive Treatment Act 2008.
- Submitted an application to Darebin City Council Community Grants for the Rainbow Families Conference 2010
April
- Support letter for application by Gay & Lesbian Health Victoria and the Australian Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies (University of Queensland) to Victorian Law Foundation for grant.
- Submission by Rainbow Families Council on “A proposal for a national model to harmonise regulation of surrogacy” - Standing Committee of Attorney Generals April 16 2009.
May
- Visited Greek & Gay support group to talk about rainbow families.
- We have also spoken to several tertiary and TAFE students doing research and projects on rainbow families and have been contacted by numerous market researchers and researchers looking for participants in studies. All requests are handled by the co-convenors and many are sent to Rainbow Families e-list, Prospective Lesbian Parents, Maybebaby and Gay Dads Vic as appropriate. Contact info@rainbowfamilies.org.au
