Rainbow Families Conference 13 Feb 2010 - Celebrating our past and future journeys
Rainbow Families Council presents our fourth community conference for same-sex parents, prospective parents, rainbow families and our supporters. Find out about the new federal and state legal reforms.
Join workshops and community discussions on creating families, parenting, raising children and new research. Meet other parents and make new friends!
Date: Saturday 13 February 2010
Venue: Northcote Town Hall, 189 High St Northcote.
Time: 9am to 5pm (register from 8.30am) plus the Rainbow Family Disco 5-7pm
Cost: $85/$50 conc. ($70/$40 for RFC members – join RFC online or on the day), children free.

Opening Plenary Session: A changing landscape – recent law reforms and our families. State and federal representatives talk about the 2008 federal reforms and the Victorian Assisted Reproductive Treatment Act, and we discuss future journeys our parenting communities are still to make.
Workshops and Discussions: Workshops have been organized into four streams: about children, getting started, parenting, and research. See the Program below for more information and to select workshop preferences.
Information Stalls: Community and information stalls will be set up in the Main Hall throughout the day, including by Births, Deaths and Marriages, and a number of our sponsors.
Rainbow Family Disco and Pizza Party: 5 to 7pm - $5 (for grownups) including pizza. Non-conference attendees are welcome to come (please book - see registration form below or pay via PayPal).
KidsKlub Program: Rainbow Families 4 is offering a fabulous, fun and free KidzKlub program for kids aged 1 to 12. Our KidzKlub program is not childcare, but supervised activities including a fabulous music workshop with Cha Cha Sam, art and craft fun, stories, games and quiet activities, and at the end of the day a wonderful hour-long circus workshop with Heather and Matt! Children aged 1 to 12 are welcome, however children under 5 must have a parent/carer with them at all times. Many activities will be suitable for this age-group. Please book your children into the KidzKlub on the registration form below.
Bring the Babies! Our conference is baby and kid-friendly. We’ll have a quiet feeding and pram sleeping room on the ground floor opposite the change room. Babies and children are welcome in all sessions at parents’/carers’ discretion. Breastfeeding and quiet play space available.
