Prospective Lesbian Parents
Prospective Lesbian Parents Victoria (PLP) is a friendly and informal group for women who may be interested in becoming a parent. We meet once a month to hear from guest speakers and have general discussions about parenting. New people are welcome to come along any time.
Guest speakers cover a range of topics including: legal and health information, alternative therapies, choosing a known donor or an anonymous donor, self-insemination, using a fertility clinic, telling family and health practitioners, birth certificates and co-parenting. Your ideas for speakers are very welcome.
PLP is for lesbians considering any kind of parenting arrangement - including lesbians who are single, in a couple, those who are considering known or anonymous donors, or those considering becoming foster parents.
MEETINGS for 2010
PLP meetings occur on the third Tuesday of every month between 6.45 (for a 7pm start) - 8.45pm + 1/2 hour happy hour per meeting! @ Victorian AIDS Council 6 Claremont South Yarra.

Where Now? Donor options - small group discussions around the different donor options to create our families. Men/your donor welcome.
Tues 20 April
Ibaby...finding your way through the maze! Discussion regarding getting pregnant at home or using Victorian or interstate clinics.
Tuesday 18 May: What's your story? Wine and Cheese night
General discussion about where people are at! Special guests also to speak about foster care etc.
Tuesday 15 June: The Law
Hear from a family lawyer regarding law changes and what that means for your family.
Tuesday 20 July: Midwife/Maternal and Child health Nurse
Hear from a midwife about what you can expect when in the labour ward and then what to expect after birth, and meeting your local maternal and child health nurse.
Tuesday 17 August
Not the other Mother - supporting yourself and your partner during the journey> Hear from guests about their journeys of being the other mother, and how to look after yourself while trying to get pregnant.
Tuesday 21 September: What's your story? Wine and Cheese night
Share your story and hear others
Tuesday 19 October:
Dealing with homophobia/internalised homophobia...coming out as a PLP. Hear other parents' stories of coming out as a GLBTI parent.
Tuesday 19 November: End of year dinner and special guests!
Meet at a restaurant and hear from special guests (naturopath/acupuncturist) about alternative treatments.
