Rainbow Playgroups
Rainbow Playgroups, formerly Fairplay Playgroups, is a community umbrella organisation which links over 80 Gay and Lesbian led families across Melbourne. Rainbow Playgroups provides a quarterly newsletter and social contact opportunities to over 90 families. The Group represents playgroups which meet weekly, located in the Melbourne suburbs of Fairfield, Thornbury, Murrumbeena and Williamstown for families with children primarily aged 0-6 years. The group also has lists for single mums, gay dads and twins. A Foster Carers’ group is currently being considered.
All members of this group have their family's details recorded on contact sheets enabling members to keep in touch with each other. The newsletter includes playgroup and special interest group updates, birth and pregnancy notices and information regarding forthcoming academic studies and services relevant to our families. Social ‘Family Days' are organised quarterly and some past events boast attendances of more than 80 people!
