About us
Rainbow Families Council is a new umbrella group, established in September 2006, for groups and individuals with a personal or professional interest in lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and intersex (LGBTI)-parented, or 'rainbow' families.
Rainbow Families Council seeks to strengthen connections between rainbow families and community groups, to initiate partnerships and networks with community and professional organizations supportive of rainbow families, to speak out for the rights of rainbow families, and to provide a public face for rainbow families in Victoria.
Rainbow Families Council is supported by volunteer committee members and several active working groups. Key activities include the Love Makes a Family campaign, which is working for social and legal recognition for rainbow families and prospective parents, a community conference held in Melbourne approximately every 18 months, and an active Rainbow Families e-group.
Rainbow Families Council established this website in May 2007 to provide resources, research and information to our communities and allies, and as a tool for campaigning for equal rights for rainbow families.
